Sensei Darrin L. McGowan
Darrin McGowan began his martial arts training in 1981 and is a Fifth Degree Black Belt. While in high school he became the victim of bullying. Rather than remain a victim, Sensei McGowan decided to pursue martial arts as a form of self defense. He often tells people that most get involved in the martial arts for one reason and stay with it for another. More than 25 years later, Sensei McGowan is still involved for a different reason. He has taught martial arts to hundreds, if not thousands, of people in different age groups and capacities. He has conducted several courses on Women ’s Self Defense and Rape Awareness, Personal Protection, Family Protection, Child Abduction, Bullying, as well as, Martial Arts. He has trained police officers, prison guards, doctors, lawyers, housewives, concerned parents, pilots, students - elementary through college, and the list goes on. Sensei McGowan has also done VIP and celebrity protection.

Sensei McGowan now spends a lot of time speaking at schools through a program called PMA Bully Talk. This program educates students, and teachers alike, about the effects of bullying and how to handle bullies. Visit www.pmabullytalk.com for more information

Sensei McGowan is also very involved in his community. He is currently serving his third term as a Rushville City Councilman. He sits on the Rush County Economic and Community Delvelopment (ECDC) Board of Directors and served as Reserve Police Officer for 10 years. Sensei McGowan is also a Life Member of the United States Karate-Do Kai and a member of the Martial Arts Teachers Association (MATA),
